BMG has released the Papillon original motion picture soundtrack, which features the film’s score by Emmy-nominated composer David Buckley. The movie is a remake of the highly-regarded 1973 adventure crime drama, and follows the epic story of Henri “Papillon” Charrière, a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder and condemned to life in the notorious penal colony on Devil’s Island. Determined to regain his freedom, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with a convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega, who in exchange for protection, agrees to finance Papillon’s escape... The soundtrack to Papillon contains 12 tracks (41 min, 48 sec) and houses some incredibly ethereal themes. There are a number of choral pieces (most notably in tracks 'Cephale' and 'Revez, Mes Anges’) which really help to give this a beautifully other worldly feel. 'Azuré Des Anthyllides' is probably this album's highlight. It's a beautiful piece that builds slowly. It's a score that won't suit everyone, but if melancholic album's that reach deep into your soul are your thing then there's plenty to get excited about here. Overall, it's a deep and rich score that doesn't disappoint. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
