Having started in 1995, the Future Sounds of Jazz series is now onto its 14 release. This latest album is available on double CD / 4 LP vinyl and incorporates 28 tracks (2 hr, 36 min, 11 sec) by Move D, Roman Flügel, Slowdive, Isolée, Cobblestone Jazz, Luke Abbott, remixes by Avalon Emerson, Russ Gabriel, Kassem Mosse, I:Cube. If you've been following this series then you won't need any encouragement to add this to your collection. It's a loving combination of Electronics, House, Techno and Ambient tracks - the sort of music that I personally fondly remember from my early 20s - mainly because they sound like the sort of music that would have been included on the Playstation series of Wipeout futuristic racing games. There isn't a bad track on here. From start to finish there's a constant stream of attention grabbing sounds that will also chill you out. I love the idea that this is the "Future Sound of Jazz" as it's neither futuristic (being incredibly '90s retro in feel) nor Jazz-based. Overall, this is a history lesson for those too young to remember the '90s and a nostalgic trip for the rest of us. Track listing: CD 1 (compiled by Benjamin Fröhlich) 01.
