Lakeshore Records release the original score to A Simple Favor. The film centres around Stephanie, a vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's sudden disappearance from their small town. This Hitchcockian thriller is filled with twists and betrayals as Stephanie joined by Emily's husband Sean uncovering secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge... Theodore Shapiro really does pull out all the stops with his score for A Simple Favor. There's action and suspense aplenty here. In fact it sounds like the sort of soundtrack that Hitchcock would be employing if he were still alive and directing suspense movies today. The album consists of 26 tracks (1 hr, 02 min, 58 sec) and is a slow build. There are a number of interesting themes that are woven throughout, and the score builds as it progresses, leaving the really juicy themes in the later half of the album. Some might be turned off by its almost ambient-like feel and on occasion you may be dismayed that there's a little too much of an atmospheric music cue vibe. But stick with it as each and every note is carefully constructed to pay off later. Personally I thought it was an incredible deep and layered offering that really adds the right amount of atmosphere and suspense to the movie. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
