Butcher Brown is a modern collective, whose members were all born after the mid-70s, who relish in creating music that is a throwback to the great progressive jazz bands of the '60s and '70s. The band's modern, hip-hop infected funk has echoes of Weather Report, Return to Forever and early Earth, Wind and Fire... Camden Sessions contains 4 tracks (28 min, 33 sec), being more an EP than a full blown LP. But don't let that put you off. There's more quality material here than there is in a lot of modern jazz albums. From the first play through, if you're an old school jazz fan, you'll feel right at home. While you haven't heard these tracks before, you'll feel like you already know them. This is a pretty hard trick to pull off, but Butcher Brown force themselves to be your new favourite thing... and you'll have no idea how they pulled it off. From the infectious drum beats of 'Fiat', taking a detour via the trumpet solo on 'Street Pharmacy', to the laid back electric guitar plucking of '918' this is a release that will worm its way into your heart. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
