Back Lot Music release Frederik Wiedmann's score to The Scorpion King: Book of Souls. It's the fifth installment in the Scorpion King film series as well as being the eighth movie in The Mummy franchise... Frederik Wiedmann delivers a rich and deep score for The Scorpion King: Book of Souls. Considering this didn't receive a theatrical release, it's incredible what he gifts us with. He could have phoned this one in, rehashed some of the old themes from previous movies or stuck any old music in there and almost no one would have noticed or complained. What he delivers here is impressive. It's multi-layered, quality material packed with engaging themes. As you'd expect, it has themes that harken back, in style, to previous movies in the series without actually copying past themes. In fact, the only time I thought "That sounds like..." was when listening to 'The Book of Souls' which reminded me very much of James Horner's work on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The score contains 1 hr, 10 min, 26 sec spread over 23 tracks and is an essential purchase if you're a fan of the composer's work or intricate scores in general. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
