Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande Records release the original soundtrack from What They Had, which features an original score by composer Danny Mulhern. The movie centres on a family in crisis. Bridget returns home to Chicago at her brother’s urging to deal with her ailing mother and her father’s reluctance to let go of their life together... Danny Mulhern's score for What They Had is touching and sweet, the perfect accompaniment for the movie's subject. However, it is music that works a lot better in the movie to add extra weight to the emotion on screen. Listened to in isolation it all becomes a little too similar. Talking about the project, Mulhern said: “The score for What They Had needed to convey the warmth and intimacy of the family dynamic, alongside the tensions going on within their relationships. The music has an intimate, homespun atmosphere, and as the film moves through its narrative, the score opens out more and more." Not one for a casual score collector, really. This is one that will only truly be appreciated by those that have seen the movie. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
