Frederik Wiedmann's score for Snow to Sand is released digitally. The movie tells a timeless story about adventure and exploration through two modern day explorers traversing America’s 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico for the first time in the winter. The album contains 14 tracks (34 min, 42 sec) and is another strong and engaging soundtrack by the composer who has in recent years delivered some incredible scores (The Damned; Duell der Brüeder; Dying of the Light; Field of Lost Shoes; Green Lantern: The Animated Series; Hangman; Hostel: Part III; Scorpion King: Book of Souls; Spectrum). Snow and Sand is more of a slow burner. It takes a while to connect with what the composer has conjured up, and while it's still a score you can appreciate on the first play through, repeat listens really do pay off. 'Cold' for example is a track that you'll instantly warm to, but on repeat listens it's one of those pieces that sends a chill down your spine. It's not important that you've seen the movie as this is a collection of themes that work incredibly well on their own merits. Wiedmann once again delivers a little slice of beauty - an album that you can enjoy now and will still be digging out in years to come to bring you lots of listening pleasure. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
