Varèse Sarabande Records has reissued Basil Poledouris score for the Steve Seagal action flick, On Deadly Ground (1994), with the original 30 minute CD selection having been expanded to 79 minutes. I've never been an avid collector of Basil Poledouris's scores. I don't know why, because he always delivers solid soundtracks. On Deadly Ground, while engaging and varied, just didn't really do much for me. On the first play through I didn't really pick up on any themes that were truly noteworthy, just a lot of nice, but ultimately rather run-of-the-mill pieces.

It's only on repeat listens that I picked up on the intricacies of tracks like 'Hugh Torture' and 'Forrest Blown Up'. If you fondly remember the score from its original release then this extended edition is worth picking up.
