Using the sounds of handmade paper, electronics, and surf guitar among others, Ted Coffey composes a sometimes fragile, sometimes brutal order that swings from texturalism to song. Works for Dance is a collection of pieces written for dance, both fixed media and live computer-mediated performance, Coffey’s music feels spontaneous without sacrificing finely calculated craft... Ted Coffey's Works for Dance contains 6 tracks (1 hr, 04 min, 04 sec). It opens with 'Petals 8' which draws inspiration from gagaku, the ‘elegant music’ of Japanese medieval courts. 'Petals 1, 2 & 3' are three attacca movements of electronic music for dance, composed in response to different compositional problems that both music and dance work through. For those who enjoy experimental pieces, where the composer uses instruments to deliver new and interesting sounds, then this will be right up your street. For the rest of us, this is an interesting, but pretty much a listen once and then never revisit listening experience. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
