Lakeshore Records release the original motion picture soundtrack to Destroyer. The album features original music by composer Theodore Shapiro. The movie follows a police detective who reconnects with people from an undercover assignment in her distant past in order to make peace. The moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell, whose undercover assignment to infiltrate California desert gang ended in tragedy. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past... Theodore Shapiro (A Simple Favor; Ghostbusters (2016); The Invitation; St. Vincent; Trumbo; Zoolander: No.2) delivers a laid back collection of themes here. There's nothing that noteworthy or anything that makes you sit up and take notice, instead what we're left with is a collection of themes that will simply wash over you. The album contains 18 tracks (46 mins) and the only thing that I did spot was that there's a theme running through this score, perhaps most notable on 'Full Circle' and 'Ecstasy' which pays homage, beautifully, to Bach's 'Air on the G String' (taken from Suite No. 3 in D major). Other than that it's a pretty straightforward and functional score - nothing more. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
