Varèse Sarabande has released the various artists soundtrack for Shine. Salsa was born on the streets of Spanish Harlem before transcending to a global audience, and the Fania label was the catalyst. The soundtrack to Shine mines the tremendous Fania catalog, featuring songs from Willie Colón, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri and the Fania All-Stars among others. The movie is a story about two brothers, once renowned NYC salsa dancers, now on opposing ends of neighbourhood gentrification, who must face each other in the shadow of their father’s death and a family legacy in the Spanish Harlem arts community... The soundtrack for Shine contains 12 songs (53 min, 46 sec) from the world of Salsa music. For those not in the know (I class myself in that bracket) each track will probably just merge into the next and you'll have no clue as to how influential each act has been on the genre. With the interest in salsa ever growing both the film and, as a result, this soundtrack will find a welcome spot in the lives of numerous individuals... Again, sadly, that isn't me. One for fans of the movie and salsa music only. Track listing: 01. Descarga Fania - Performed by Fania All Stars (9:11) 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
