Lakeshore records release Ethan Gold's score for the jazz-inspired drama, The Song of Sway Lake. Title tracks from the album feature vocals from American singer John Grant and English indie folk trio The Staves...

The soundtrack to The Song of Sway Lake contains 49 tracks (1 hr, 06 min, 25 sec) and is bound to split listeners right down the middle. You're either going to love it or be left feeling cold. Personally I was of the later view. But then this is most likely because I haven't seen the movie and putting the music into any context is near impossible as it's not a score that works on its own merits.

The album is comprised mainly of instantly forgettable, atmospheric music cues and other than fans of the movie looking for a musical souvenir of the film, I can't imagine this release finding much of an audience.

This is one score that no doubt works beautifully in the movie, but just sounds a little strange listened to on its own merits. One for fans of the film only.
