Varèse Sarabande Records release composer Brian Tyler's score for the documentary The Devil You Know. The film focuses on one of the largest lawsuits in environmental history, starring a gym teacher and cattle farmer who led the citizens of a small West Virginia city to battle the multinational chemical megaliths, Dupont and 3M... Brian Tyler delivers something a little different from his usual output with The Devil We Know. It's a totally different project to his recent output (Crazy Rich Asians; The Expendables; Iron Man 3; Now You See Me 2; Saban's Power Rangers; Transformers Prime) and shows a more reflective side to his craft. There are catchy, memorable tracks that sound like main theme tunes to detective based TV shows ('The Devil We Know Main Title'; 'Vanquished'; and 'Inside Line') as well as numerous atmospheric themes that wash over you. 'Bubbles' stood out for me, as it has a theme in it that is very similar to 'Zoltar' in Howard Shore's score for Big (1988). While it's an interesting collection of themes, it's also a very slower burner. This is a score that will take numerous listens to get to grips with. I've been listening to it quite a lot over the past week and I still feel like I'm getting to know it. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
