Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Ramin Kousha's original score for 5th Passenger. Five crew members are forced into an escape pod built for four after their starship is destroyed. Just as rescue seems imminent, an alien creature boards their craft and attacks them... As atmospheric, eerie and suspenseful as Ramin Kousha's (Sharknado) score for 5th Passenger is... is it really the sort of music that works outside of the movie? For me, the answer is no. However, I'm aware that there are those that enjoy listening to this style of ambient, background music. And if you're one of those individuals then you'll probably enjoy this immensely. Kousha really does do an amazing job at drawing out the tension here. Not just in the obvious impending threat style of themes, but also with beautifully neat little electronic touches. There are numerous examples of strange clicks and taps that, if you're listening through speakers, throw tapping sounds around the room. This is unsettling and disorientating... and for that element alone I found myself strangely drawn to this album. The score contains 17 tracks (37 min, 43 sec) and while it's not a score I'd want to listen to that often for entertainment, as an example of how to achieve an atmospheric and eerie setting, this is one that other composers could learn a lot from. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
