On Ravello Records's Crosswind, flutist Erin Helgeson Torres and saxophonist Michael Rene Torres, who have performed as Tower Duo since 2007, deliver a number of performances which use flute and saxophone. Each performance evokes a sensory or psychological experience as wide-ranging as the various sensations encountered in a wet, humid environment, or the juxtaposition of consonance and dissonance...

Squeaking flutes and discordant passages are the order of the day on Tower Duo's Crosswind. The duo perform a number of pieces by emerging modern composers including Chin Ting Chan and Scott Brickman, as well as one of Torres’s own compositions, the complex and introspective 'Four Short Episodes'.

If, like me, you like your classical music to involve melody, and segments that can move you emotionally... you'll get little enjoyment out of Crosswind. It's too avant-garde for my taste. Those that enjoy tuneless, mindless and directionless music will applaud its unique style. Sadly, once you've heard one disjointed pretentious experimental piece you've pretty much heard them all.

To my ears it was flat, dull and instantly forgettable.
