Varèse Sarabande release the original motion picture soundtrack for Cold Pursuit. Scored by 5 time Oscar®-nominated composer George Fenton, the action thriller stars Liam Neeson as a snowplow driver seeking revenge against the drug dealers he thinks killed his son...

George Fenton has composed some impressive scores over the years, most notably Gandi, Cry Freedom and Dangerous Liaisons, but sadly Cold Pursuit is not one of them. The problem here is that the music doesn't work well as a collection. Fenton mixes electronic guitars in with ambient, electronic drone based themes and violin-based themes. The end result is a jumble of styles that doesn't sit well together. Probably perfect for underlining the action in the movie, but difficult to listen to in isolation.

It's not the compositions are dull, far from it. It's just that there's no focus or continuity. So, from track to track you're never really sure what you're listening to.

It's only when we get to 'Cold Pursuit End Titles' that some of that beautiful magic that Fenton can deliver so effortlessly, is glimpsed... but it's fleeting.

As diverse and interesting as the music it, it doesn't really warrant a full soundtrack release.
