Sony Music release the original score from the Netflix movie The Highwaymen, with music composed by Thomas Newman. The film follows two former Texas Rangers who attempt to track down and apprehend notorious criminals Bonnie and Clyde in the 1930s... Thomas Newman gives us a rich and multilayered score for The Highwaymen. The album contains 29 tracks (1 hr, 15 min, 33 sec) and consists of mostly mellow, background themes which slowly build to create an image of the locations (the desolate and dry landscapes of Texas and Oklahoma) and time period (1930's) of the movie. It works well setting the scene, without being too cliched. While this may be a little too middle of the road for some, there are a number of tracks that stand out. 'Laudanum' is particularly eerie. And 'The Other Fifty' and 'Cement City' are not a million miles away from the composer's work on The Green Mile (1999). An atmospheric and heartwarming score that works just as well outside of the movie. This is one that won't disappoint Newman's fans. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
