A band unafraid to reach beyond their comfort zone, Lowly thrive on the embrace of doubt and curiosity. An inquisitive spirit drives the quintet’s second album, Hifalutin, which evolved from an open-ended process in large spaces, from lost factory halls to water towers... Following on from their impressive debut LP, Heba, in 2017, Lowly are back with another 14 songs (52 min, 59 sec) on their new release Hifalutin. Unlike their previous album, which was instantly accessible, this new collection takes a little time to warm too - mainly because it's more mature and deeper in its construction. There's a good range of songs, from the hypnotic 'Stephen' to the beautifully laid back 'Delicate Delegates', but what really caught my interest was how almost every song has some sort of unfamiliar noise or instrument lurking in the background. It's a release you won't forget in a hurry. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
