London duo Club Kuru release their new album, Meet Your Maker, via Dog Holiday Records. Drawing simultaneously from the emotionally visceral '60s and '70s influences that they were raised on, as well as more formal classical training and self-taught production skills, it's this combination of drama and detail that sits at the heart of their heady, densely idea-packed output... Club Kuru delve deep into the past to mine a vibe that has then been transformed into a modern sound that's hard not to be drawn to. Every generation will find something to engage with. Not only does it lean on the sounds of the '60s and '70s, it also explores the psych rock, soul and jazz scene of modern day - the result is unique. The LP is made up of 12 songs (44 min, 49 sec) with personal highlights being the instantly accessible 'Cherry Bloom', which has a '90s feel; the laid back title track 'Meet Your Maker'; and 'The Photograph I Know So Well'. This is an album that is likely to age incredibly well. Well worth spending a little time with. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
