WaterTower Music, in conjunction with Sparks & Shadows, release the soundtrack to Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The movie pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history and features a soundtrack by Bear McCreary. The 26-track (1 hr, 37 min, 23 sec) album includes the song 'Godzilla' (Feat. Serj Tankian), the composer’s interpretation of Blue Öyster Cult’s classic anthem created in collaboration with Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) and musicians Brendon Small, Bryan Beller, and Gene Hoglan who form the rhythm section of Dethklok from TV’s Metalocalypse... Bear McCreary delivers, as you'd expect, an epic, adrenaline pumping score for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. I was reminded of the work of David Arnold, particularly his score for Stargate, on so many of the tracks. This is a soundtrack that stands on its own two feet, outside of the movie, representing an engaging and memorable collection of themes in its own right. It hardly lets you catch your breath before it's shifted to yet another epic segment of music. There is the occasional interlude of softer music ('For Andrew'; 'Goodbye Old Friend') but mostly this is loud and thumping - exactly like any good action adventure movie score should be. Action adventure soundtrack collectors won't be disappointed with what McCreary has crafted here. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
