Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Nascuy Linares original score to the movie Juan. Based on the life of Juan Félix Sánchez, an Andean folk artist whose talents included weaving and sculpture. He was the architect and builder of the Chapel of San Rafael de Mucuchíes, as well as a number of other chapels in Venezuela...

Nascuy Linares delivers an interesting score for Juan. While it's an album that will find a welcome home in the collection of fans of the movie, it doesn't actually matter if you're familiar with the life of Juan Félix Sánchez or not, as this is an engaging standalone album in its own right.

The soundtrack contains just 10 tracks (26 min, 40 sec) making it closer to being an EP than a full blown score, which is a shame as I could have happily listened to a lot more music in a similar vein.

There's some haunting vocals that pop up in tracks like 'Timelap 1', as well as music that sounds like its designed to act as the backdrop to a dream sequence in a fairground ('Viaje de Juan').

Overall, a rather odd, but engaging collection of themes.
