WaterTower Music release the music from the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. The album features the show's score by composer Ramin Djawadi... So here we are, finally, at the end of Ramin Djawadi's run of scores for Game of Thrones. What's most surprising is how Djawadi's music is as fresh now as it has been throughout the entire run of the show. A lot of composers would have run out of steam well before this point and probably have fallen back on themes from previous seasons to pad out the score. While there are familiar themes that pop up here (for obvious reasons) they are always presented in a fresh way. Among the album’s 32 tracks (1 hr, 59 min, 34 sec), is Djawadi’s 9-minute opus 'The Night King', as well as an instrumental version of the emotional ballad 'Jenny of Oldstones'... 'The Night King' theme debuted during a pivotal moment in the epic battle episode 'The Long Night'. The soundtrack also features a new arrangement of 'The Rains of Castamere' from Djawadi and Serj Tankian (System of a Down). If you've been following the show and soundtrack releases, then this offers a familiar flavour, but with Djawadi ensuring that each and every theme works just as well as a standalone piece of music as it does accompanying the onscreen action. Once again we are treated to a beautifully presented collection of themes. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
