Self engineering and performing all instruments on the LP including guitar, bass and drums, multi-instrumentalist Ferguson’s wild-eyed falsetto, layered vocal harmonies, greasy guitars and conversational verses have already gained comparisons to contemporaries and legends from Ty Segall to Paul McCartney...

There's a distinct '60s vibe that lurks beneath the surface of Ian Ferguson's State of Gold. And that will either be its attraction or element that turns you off. What is impressive is how Ferguson pours his heart and soul into the LP, playing every instrument and engineering the final result.

This gives it a very personal touch, delivering an earthy and hard to resist sound. While nothing really grabbed me as original, it's certainly one that's a little different from recent releases.
