Stormy Love is a rich, smooth jazz album that casts its net wide. It feels like a musical theatre performer's solo album, as from song to song Johnson's vocal talents are stretched to their limits. The end result is a sumptuous release that the entire family can enjoy.

The songs all seem to have been chosen to showcase Johnson's impressive vocal range and it's refreshing to note that each track has its own strengths and could so easily be a jazz bar standard in its own right.

And to add the icing on the cake, there's an impressive reworking of Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now' - a song that not everyone can pull off, but Johnson takes it and makes it his own.

This is an enjoyable release that makes jazz accessible to all.
