Automatic release their new album, Signal, via Stones Throw. The band members - Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals) - have been jamming together since 2017. Their backgrounds see them coming from punk and art-rock outfits... Automatic's new album is probably best described as Dreampunk with an edge. The 11 songs (31 min, 10 sec) are free flowing and easily digestible on a first play through. It's a laid back affair with just enough upbeat drumming to get your head moving. The vocals are dreamy and hypnotic, whilst the instruments are stripped back and beautifully basic - there are no frills here. It's hard not to be caught up in the band's enthusiasm. While you'll probably not be playing this in six months time, as an album to play to death and get a lot of pleasure out of for the next month or two... this does the trick. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
