Andres Sanchez, Juan Andres Vergara and Francisco Cravioto deliver the original soundtrack for Mexican cinema's Olimpia. The film follows three students who get caught up in Mexico’s National Autonomous University student movement in 1968...

It's always hit or miss when there are more than two composers collaborating on a soundtrack. If they're not on the same page as the director then the end result can be a little jarring, taking the viewer out of the movie.

Andres Sanchez, Juan Andres Vergara and Francisco Cravioto manage to create a pretty tight and coherent score for Olimpia. There's no indication if the three composers worked each piece up together, or if they were responsible with developing different themes separately. To be honest, it's not overly important, as the end result is solid and gels well.

I was really impressed with the opening track 'El Movimiento' which has a distinct retro Hollywood feel. 'Llegada Militares' is a subtle, melancholic track that stays with you. 'Probando Nagra' is a mellow classical guitar piece. 'Inicia La Aventura' has a brooding, slow build. And the final track, rounds everything out neatly - 'Tema Raquel Magnolia' might appear to end in mid flow, but it contains some interesting themes.

While it's by no means an essential score to add to your collection, there's enough interesting themes to make it worth your while checking out.
