Silva Screen Records release the first ever overview of Marco Beltrami's film music work, selected and approved by the artist. Supported by the Film Fest Gent’s World Soundtrack Awards, Marco Beltrami: Music For Film is the fifth release from the series on Silva Screen Records. Every year since 1982, an outstanding film music composer is invited to present their work during the annual World Soundtrack Awards Gala & Concert... I first discovered Marco Beltrami's music when I reviewed the DVD release of the movie Knowing in 2009. While I'd seen a lot of the movies he'd scored previous to that, none really caught my attention. His work on Knowing has so many wonderful themes woven throughout its runtime that I still play it from time to time. Since then we've reviewed his scores for 1864, Ben-Hur, The Giver, Gods of Egypt, The Gunman, Hellboy, The Homesman, Logan, Mathilde, The November Man, Scream / Scream 2, The Sessions, Snowpiercer, The Wolverine, The Woman in Black, as well as several where he has collaborated with other composers. Having to chose from some the impressive scores he's responsible for must have been an almost impossible task (I for one am sorry that Knowing or The Woman in Black didn't make the cut). What we get are 10 tracks (1 hr, 08 min, 13 sec) of arguably his most impressive compositions. Most are suites, so presented in a way fans won't have heard before. To be honest, the album could be twice as long, with another 10 movies and you still wouldn't be able to do the man's contribution to cinema the justice it deserves. For fans of the composer, this is a wonderful way to celebrate his work. And, for those who haven't been following his output, this is the perfect way to get a taste of Beltrami's output. 01 - Scream - Suite 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
