MovieScore Media release Simon Kölle's folk-inspired action score for The Huntress: Rune of the Dead. The movie is set during the midst of the Viking raids of the 9th century. When heroine Runa nurses a wounded warrior back to health, she not only learns news about her missing father, but also about an impending danger on her community... The music for The Huntress: Rune of the Dead certainly evokes images of a bygone era. Composer Simon Kölle (Ave Mater) worked with Per Runberg, who played the bowed harp, flutes, fiddle, hardingfele, mouth harps and cows horn. Talking about the project, Kölle's said: "He's [Runberg] an expert on music during the period and I wanted the folk music to be a part of the score, but not take over." For the most part this works incredibly well. The folk music is beautifully presented and coupled with Kölle's more traditional classical-based score it adds another dimension to what is already a solid score. There's a little atmospheric "noise" that pops up from time to time. While this is essential in the movie for creating atmosphere, it feels a little flat listened to in isolation. While not an essential movie score purchase, there's still enough beauty here to make it worthwhile checking out. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
