Broadway Records release Hayden Tee's album Face to Face, his first album dedicated to musical theatre. The LP features songs from his starring roles in Matilda the Musical, Les Misérables, 1776, and expands his repertoire with songs by Jason Robert Brown, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Adam Guettel, Kander & Ebb and more. Arranged by Nigel Ubrihien, backed by a symphony orchestra, and featuring a duet with John Owen-Jones, Face To Face is a sumptuous celebration of musical theatre... Whether you've heard of Hayden Tee, or have no idea who he is, one thing is certain... If you're a fan of musical theatre you'll fall in love with this album. The most impressive thing about Face to Face is that Tee takes a wonderfully diverse collection of songs and makes them his own. Sure, some he's already performed on stage, but he puts a new spin on each track and in some cases it's almost as though you're hearing the song for the first time. I totally loved 'Lily's Eyes' and 'It All Fades Away' (which incorporates a particularly impressive reworking of Dvorak’s 'New World' Symphony to heighten the emotional underscore of the piece). The album contains 9 songs (33 min, 12 sec) and if I had one complaint it's that it's far too short. I could have listened to much more in a similar vein. An impressive album that not only showcases Tee's wonderful voice, but also allows you to rediscover some of these songs in a new light.
