Broadway Records has released Randy Rainbow's Hey Gurl, It’s Christmas! On his debut Christmas album, comedian, singer, and viral star Randy Rainbow puts his signature twist on holiday classics and premieres a brand-new Christmas song (the title track) with music by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, Smash, Mary Poppins Returns) and lyrics by Randy Rainbow and Shaiman. Backed by a swingin’ band and exciting new musical arrangements by Jesse Kissel (Chicago, The Visit, Randy Rainbow Live), Randy is joined by special guests Alan Cumming, Kathy Griffin, Norm Lewis, Lorna Luft, and even the President of the United States... sort of...

One of the most impressive aspects of this release is the diversity of content. It wonderfully balances traditional festive reworkings of tracks ('Merry Christmas Darling / What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?' featuring Norm Lewis being the highlight), with tongue in cheek comedy songs ('Trump’s Favorite Things' featuring John Di Domenico, which will age this album, is very amusing). Even the specially written title track is catchy and instantly memorable.

It's quite a short album, 7 tracks (28 min, 13 sec) but it's incredibly sweet, especially 'The Christmas Movie Medley'. Certainly one to lift the spirits this Christmas.
