Lakeshore Records has released the original score to the critically-acclaimed documentary We Believe in Dinosaurs, composed by DJ, music producer and London Electronic Orchestra leader Kate Simko. We Believe in Dinosaurs is a film about creationism, conflicting ideologies, and America’s troubled relationship with science. The score uses analogue synthesizers, like the Moog Voyager, to symbolize modern science and technology, alongside delicate synth tones, strings, and live violin to underscore the sometimes heated emotions the film... Technically, Kate Simko's score for We Believe in Dinosaurs is flawless. There's a wonderful retro feeling to a lot of the tracks, thanks to the employment of analogue synths. At times this started to feel like a classic Jean-Michel Jarre album - most notably on tracks like 'Ideas at War', and I can imagine how wonderfully atmospheric this will feel in the movie. However, listened to in isolation, there seems to be far too much filler material. Background music cues that amble along without any real direction. While this is intentional to build a connection with the onscreen imagery, listened to on its own merits it starts to sound a little flat in places. Overall, an interesting and intricate work, but not something that will be embraced by everyone. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
