Going Under is a satirical dungeon crawler about exploring the cursed ruins of failed tech startups. As an unpaid intern in the dystopian city of Neo-Cascadia, you’ll wield office junk as weaponry as you make your way through the offbeat procedural dungeons beneath your company campus...

Review imageIn the not too distant future failed businesses sink beneath the earth, with their employees cursed to wander their offices for all eternity as monsters.

As a temp at Fizzle, a carbonated drink startup company, you are tasked with sliding down into the underworld to despatch any monsters that are still roaming the halls of a sunk office block. Make friends with your co-workers and perform tasks for them in the bowls of the underground.

Going Under is a retro looking old skool style dungeon crawler. Think Atic Atac (1983) brought forward a decade into the '90s and you'll get a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Review imageDeep in the underground, inside a sunken office block, you can pick up almost any object in the environment and purpose it into a weapon. From staplers to cacti, from pencils to brooms, all can be used to attack the monsters hiding in the various rooms you must traverse.

It's novel and rather fun, but there's very little to keep you hooked. The graphics are lovingly retro at first, but soon start to become a little repetitive, which is also true of the gameplay.

It's a good game to send you on a nostalgia trip, but it's unlikely to hold your attention for all that long.
