Cerrone releases his new album, DNA, his first studio LP since 2016's Red Lips. The new release marks a return to the artist's roots in disco music... Cerrone's legion of fans and admirers will lap this up, but those unfamiliar with the artist will need to let this slowly grow on them. Claimed to be the most sampled French artist in the history of music, Cerrone opened the doors to the French Touch movement. Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair (who sold 1 million copies of his Cerrone by Bob Sinclair album) and even Massive Attack have been influenced by the legendary producer. Widely considered one of the most influential artists of the disco-era, Cerrone can also be considered an early pioneer and purveyor of dance music, inspiring countless other artists in recent decades. For fans of '80s synth composers like Giorgio Moroder then there's much to embrace here. And indeed fans of Cerrone will note how this is inspired by previous works - as it explores his musical DNA through his experience as a DJ. It's not going to appeal to everyone, but I strongly advise you to give it a chance. Once you get into Cerrone's stride you'll reap the rewards. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
