Worshippers is Web Web's third album (following 2017's Oracle and 2018's Dance of the Demons) and represents a concept album, of sorts, through Afro and spiritual jazz. Web Web are Roberto Di Gioia (piano, synth, percussion), Tony Lakatos (tenor and soprano saxophones, flute), Christian von Kaphengst (upright bass) and Peter Gall (drums)... Worshippers contains 13 songs (47 min, 38 sec) that feel like the band has soaked up just about every mainstream and niche jazz act and delivered a comprehensive summing up of their collective favourite styles. For me the highlight was Joy Denalane's hypnotic vocals, most notably on the soulful track 'What You Give'. but there really is a little something here or everyone. For collector's of jazz records, this album is diverse enough to make it a worthwhile purchase. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
