Milan Records release Dan Romer and Benh Zeitlin's original score for Wendy. The movie is a vivid reimaging of the classic tale of Peter Pan. Lost on a mysterious island where aging and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up... The interesting thing about Dan Romer and Benh Zeitlin's (Beasts of the Southern Wild) music for Wendy is that it really does reflect the narrative of the story on a much deeper level than you may be expecting. There's a youthful exuberance that runs through the tracks, and you can hear the struggle to remain in that state as more mature themes try to slowly override them as the music rolls on. I'm not sure if this is intentional, or maybe it's just me reading too much into it, but that's how it honesty feels. There's less emphasis on tugging at the heartstrings, as a lot of Peter Pan based projects tend to do, and more of a focus on drawing out real human emotions from the settings. It's a refreshingly original approach and one works incredibly well as a standalone listening experience. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
