The Neal Morse Band released their acclaimed The Similitude Of A Dream album - a progressive rock retelling of John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress) back in 2016, it began a journey, starting with a 51 date world tour. 2019 saw the band release a companion piece entitled The Great Adventure, continuing the story from the point of view of the Pilgrim’s son, Joseph, and earning yet more lavish praise from critics and fans alike. And then, once again, The Neal Morse Band, took The Great Adventure out on the road, performing 47 shows in North America in Europe in what was billed as The Great Adventour.

It's a pretty engaging rock album with so many memorable songs. This has the benefit, over the studio album, of the musicians being able to expand a little on tracks - and there are some pretty impressive solos.

The Great Adventure is available in various guises. There's the standard studio album on vinyl, CD and digital download... and then there's this live album which is released as a double Blu-ray and double CD collection. As we didn't receive the Blu-ray discs, this review is only based on the CD discs... It might have received a higher mark if we'd received the entire collection in order to give a fair review... who can say?

If you bought the standard studio album, and loved it, then this adds much to the experience.
