Anna Burch delivers her own unique blend of dreamy indie pop on her new LP, If You're Dreaming, released via Polyvinyl Record Co. The album contains 12 songs (38 min, 11 sec)... If You're Dreaming is a timeless sounding album in so much as that it has a sound and feel to it that could have seen it being released any time from the '60s to the present day. From song to song, Anna Burch flits and changes both her style and attitude so that you can never really pin down where the album's going. This, for me, was its highpoint. Burch isn't afraid to step outside her comfort zone, and there are songs here that probably wouldn't work in any other setting. 'Keep it Warm', for example is a rather strange instrumental piece that's part beautiful and part eerie. But it just works so well slotted in amongst the rest of the tracks. Laid back, dreamy and instantly accessible. Burch delivers a warm and multi layered release that constantly surprises. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
