Laura Marling releases her new album, Song For Our Daughter, via Chrysalis/Partisan. It was recorded alongside producer Ethan Johns, and is Marling’s seventh solo album. This release arrives in the midst of uncharted global chaos, and yet instantly and tenderly offers a sense of purpose, clarity and calm... Laura Marling has a knack for delivering downbeat songs that result in the listener feeling good about themselves and the future of society. Song for our Daughter contains 10 songs (36 min, 38 sec) and opens with the acoustic guitar heavy 'Alexandra'. 'Held Down' has a K.D. Lang vibe about it, while 'Strange Girl' is a throwback to the '70s. As track after track rattles on, from fast-paced folk, to intimate slow ballads, it soon becomes apparent that Marling's skills as both a songwriter and performer shows no signs of slowing. Whether you've been following her for years, or are coming to her fresh, you'll find plenty to get excited about. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
