Milan Records and HBO release the soundtrack to the HBO show Betty. The album features a score composed by Aska Matsumiya as well as various artist tracks. The show follows a group of female skateboarders in New York City. Based on Crystal Moselle’s original film Skate Kitchen the show stars much of the film’s original cast... Betty follows a diverse group of young women navigating their lives through the predominantly male-oriented world of skateboarding, set against the backdrop of New York City, and while the score is upbeat and modern, I never really felt that it managed to capture the feel of the world in which it's set. In fact, the only track that really interested me was 'Strawberry Field'. This is an electronic, trippy piece which manages to worm its way into your heart. There are also a number of songs performed by various artists, but sadly these were uniformly instantly forgettable. In truth, this is really only going to appeal to fans of the series... and then only a small percentage of those at best. 4 Darren Rea Buy this item online
