Milan Records has released an album of Tom Holkenborg's music from the Netflix series White Lines. The show follows a young woman navigating the island of Ibiza in the wake of her brother’s mysterious death. Holkenborg was able to draw from his own experiences performing in Ibiza and clubs around the world during his live career as a multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer... This is a soundtrack that will only really be of interest to huge fans of the show. Personally I found it a little flimsy and rather dull. Even after listening to it repeatedly over a number of weeks I'm no closer to getting to know it. Talking about the music, composer Tom Holkenborg said: "It was a delight to dive back into my electronic roots and revisit some amazing Ibiza memories when creating the score for White Lines. Though much of the music I made is not club focused, as they licensed a lot of original tracks from the late ‘90s and early 2000s, I think my work was able to capture some of the magic that makes club culture and the island so special. It was a really fun personal project to work on and I hope people love the series." Tracks like 'In the Club' and 'Infinity' do give a wishy-washy feel of '90s Ibiza club style anthems, but it's a little too cliched. The majority of the score is made up of suspenseful music that never really captures the true essence of suspense. While it's doubtful you'll still be revisiting this six months from now, fans of the series may find this briefly entertaining, even if it is a little shallow. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
