Plaza Mayor Company presents the soundtrack album for the Spanish sci-fi movie The Platform (El Hoyo). The album contains music composed by Aránzazu Calleja. The movie is set in a future dystopia. Inside a vertical prison system, inmates are assigned to a level and forced to ration food from a platform that moves between the floors... Aránzazu Calleja's score for The Platform (El Hoyo) has some interesting moments, but on balance it's mainly made up of background atmospheric cues. Technically it's incredible, employing abrupt changes in tone to create a disorienting listening experience... but it's certainly a score that works well in the movie, but is not so enjoyable when heard on its own merits. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful, methodical collection. It's just that it's hard to listen to outside of the movie... and I'm not sure why anyone would want to. Having said that, hats off to Plaza Mayor Company Ltd for releasing it so that horror music fans can appreciate this on its own merits. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
