Montreal-based indie trio Braids release their new album, Shadow Offering, via Secret City Records. Produced by Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie), the new album finds the band at their most personal, unabashedly flexing a new sense of confidence... Shadow Offering delivers 9 songs (44 min, 50 sec) with easily the most accessible track being 'Upheaval II' closely followed by 'Just Let Me'. The album is a bit of a throw back to the '80s/'90s indie pop scene which saw the likes of River City People. 'Snow Angel' sounds like singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston is having a full on breakdown, as she leans passionately into her anger, diving deeper into frustrations and anxieties about her internal and external worlds. It's one of the album's most intimate and revealing tracks and really stands out. This is an album that is engaging on a first play through and rewards with repeat listens. A wonderfully engaging release. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
