Who the Power

Artist: Liela Moss
Label: Bella Union
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 07 August 2020

Liela Moss's new album, Who The Power, is released via Bella Union. This, her second solo album, follows 2018’s deeply personal My Name Is Safe in Your Mouth...

While I did, on the whole, enjoy this album, I have to admit I found it a little directionless. The songs amble along well enough, it's just that I didn't feel the songs themselves, nor the album in general, had any purpose or drive. In the end it just feels like a collection of similar, yet disconnected songs.

This is one that works best when you dip in and out of. Even putting it on random/shuffle doesn't cause any issues - as some albums can.

At the end of the day I was left wondering "Why?" What was the point of this release? It felt more like a collection of half thought out random ideas that had been worked up into songs in a hurry. I may sound like I didn't enjoy this... far from it. However, as briefly distracting as this album was, it's unlikely to be one I'll dig out in the future.
