Milan Records release I Am Woman, an album of music from the biographical film surrounding Australian singer Helen Reddy as performed by Chelsea Cullen. Included on the album is Cullen’s recording of Reddy’s massive hit 'I Am Woman,' which eventually became the anthem for the women’s movement in the 1970s... If you don't know who Helen Reddy is, or know any of her songs, then this album is probably not for you unless you happened to stumble across the film and loved the songs performed in it. The film tells the inspiring story of Australian singer Helen Reddy, who wrote and sang the song 'I Am Woman' that became the anthem for the women's movement in the 1970s. The film is a story of fearless ambition and passion, of a woman who smashed through the patriarchal norms of her time to become the international singing superstar she always dreamed of being. It's interesting to hear modern reworkings of some of Reddy's most famous songs, although they've been recorded to pay tribute to the original recordings, keeping a lot of the production values of that era. Chelsea Cullen does a remarkable job of staying true to Reddy's original recordings, while breathing new life into them. This is an album that fans of the movie, and of Reddy's will fall in love with. Track listing: 01 - I Am Woman (1989 Version) 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
