WaterTower Music releases the digital album release of Ted Lasso: Season 1, featuring music from the Apple Original about a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer... Marcus Mumford and Tom Howe's score for Ted Lasso is an intimate affair that sounds like a modern version of British movie scores of the '80s/'90s that were usually set in the North of England. There's that earthy, rich, touching approach that keeps everything simple, yet sweet. The obvious highlight is the very short, but incredibly sweet piano piece 'Oklahoma', but I also loved 'Lady Football' which has a ring of Vince Guaraldi's wonderful music for the animated television adaptations of the Peanuts comic strip. For a bit of energy there's tracks like 'Running Laps' and I couldn't help smile at 'American Football', which felt like it was inspired by Vangelis's Chariots of Fire. If you're a fan of the show then you'll want to pick this up. And, even for the casual soundtrack collector, there's more than a handful of themes here that make this an interesting purchase. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
