Bridging the gap between jazz, classical and modern music, Johanna Burnheart brings us Burnheart, an album that is wonderfully unique, whilst still paying homage to some of histories greatest jazz musicians.

Violin and jazz rarely go hand in hand, but here Burnheart makes it work beautifully, but it is very much a case of trial and error. While it's subjective, some of the pieces don't work quite as well as others, but then for most audiences this is uncharted territory.

On balance I really enjoyed it, but by the end I'd started to tire a little bit and just longed for a little more traditional structure.
