Vocal powerhouse and winner of season 15 of NBC’s The Voice, Chevel Shepherd, releases a festive themed album, A Good Ol' Country Christmas. Spanning generations - from Bill Monroe’s 1951 'Christmas Times A Comin' to contemporary classic from The Polar Express, 'When Christmas Comes to Town' the 12-song holiday album has a running time of 33 min, 55 sec)... Christmas music and country music you wouldn't necessarily think would make for an interesting crossover. But Chevel Shepherd's strong vocals manage to fuse the two together in such a way that is appealing, although it's doubtful that it will convert any that usually shy away from either genre. I'm not familiar with Shepherd, but she has a noticeable slur when singing 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' and I'm surprised that this wasn't flagged up and addressed by a vocal coach. It's not a huge issue, and if she has a speech impediment then it would explain it, but it's not noticeable on any other track. There's no escaping the fact that Shepherd has an incredible voice and the chosen songs really help to show off her range incredibly well. The only issue is that you'll have to be a really big fan of this sort of good ol' boys style of south country music. Track listing: 01. Country Christmas 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
