Many centuries have passed since the dark lord ruled the land. But he has recently been resurrected and is looking forward to retaking his rightful place in his castle. Ghosts of the dead, as well as bodies of the undead, roam the land, driving the locals from their homes. But the Ghost Sweepers are here, ready to dispatch ghosts and monsters alike. As one of the Ghost Sweepers you must face off against ghosts, laughing pumpkins, creaking skeletons and many other weird creatures as you explore eight different zones...
Ghost Sweeper is a by-the-numbers retro platform game. It offers nothing new or different from any one of a hundred similar games... although it is incredibly cheap and rather cutesy, graphically. Those that have played Solomon's Key on the SNES will find this to be a very similar game. Your quest sees you trudging through eight different zones. From the Dark Forest to The Evil Lord Lair passing through the haunted villages and graveyards, each zone has numerous levels and several secret levels. And if you manage to find all the secrets, the gates to a hidden zone are opened as a reward.
If retro games are your thing then there's plenty to enjoy here. The puzzles are just taxing enough to make it interesting and the level design and depth will keep you coming back until you complete it. It's also cheap enough to warrant taking a gamble on. Just don't expect anything new or groundbreaking and you'll have a blast. 6 Nick Smithson
