Hilang Child release their sophomore album, Every Mover, via Bella Union...

While I enjoyed Every Mover in the time I spent with it, it is not an album I'll necessary visit again in the future. It feels light years away from their impressive debut, 2018's Years.

Tracks like the closer 'Steppe' are interesting (especially if you listen through headphones) as there is so much going on in the background. But, peel away the clever production values and the songs seem uninteresting - a little bland and very flat.

The band seems to have a fascination with incorporating snippets of music played in reverse. While it was interesting the first few times, it soon became distracting.

On a shallow level this is an above average release, but there's very little here that made me sit up and take notice; and practically nothing that made me want to revisit it once this review is put to bed.
