Maximilien Mathevon releases his latest album, Memory Fast Lane, a collection of electronic themes and set pieces that dip their toes in genres from garage to movie score... Maximilien Mathevon's output of late has been phenomenal. And diversity is always at the centre of his work. Every time we receive an album of his to review we never know what to expect. From beautifully emotive scores to banging club anthems, the man is a maestro in his field and his works are always a pure joy to kick back and experience. In Memory Fast Lane we have a wonderfully engaging electronic score that wouldn't be out of place in a futuristic racing game (like the Wipeout franchise). Tracks like 'In the Dark' reminded my of a fusion between Vangelis and Orbital. It truly is impressive how from track to track a story unfolds; a story that the listener will conjure up in their own head subconsciously. The ability to convey such a gift via music is a rare talent and one that shouldn't be taken lightly. Do yourself a favour. If you don't own any of Mathevon's albums, then rectify this oversight immediately. You won't regret it. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
